Job Eagle

Keep your progress

Update Job Eagle.
Keep your search.

Your search history lives in your chats and saved files, separate from the Job Eagle workflow ZIP. Bring those files to the new version to continue from where you left off.

Tested with saved searches. Claude 0.1.18 → 2.2.0 and ChatGPT 2.2.0 → 2.3.0 retained their saved candidate information, preferences, companies, drafts, activity and follow-ups. These checks cover those exported records, not every older format or the entire contents of a chat.

1. Back up your current search

In your existing Job Eagle chat, paste:

Export from your old chat

Prepare a complete handover of my current job search: a full progress JSON checkpoint and my latest tracker. Include all confirmed facts and corrections, preferences, resume exclusions, every tracked company, drafts, application and outreach history, replies, follow-up dates, and company-batch history. Preserve my dates and timezone, and keep real and simulated activity separate. Flag anything missing; do not invent or reset counts. Also give me the latest resume DOCX and PDF and any separately saved drafts. Do not send or submit anything.

Download the progress JSON and tracker. Keep your latest resume DOCX/PDF and separate drafts too, along with the old chat. A short recap or tracker alone may leave out important history. Keep these originals until you have checked the upgraded files.

2. Download your platform’s latest package

Choose the package for the platform you already use. Keep it zipped. Platform versions can differ; you do not need to switch platforms to update.

3. Open a new chat and attach your files

Attach the new Job Eagle ZIP, your progress JSON, and your latest tracker (XLSX or CSV). Attach your current resume and separate draft files too if you want the new chat to have those documents available. Use the same ChatGPT or Claude account where you normally work.

4. Paste the upgrade message

Continue in the new version

I’m upgrading my existing Job Eagle search. Open the attached new Job Eagle ZIP, read its SKILL.md and supporting references, and use that platform release from now on. Restore my search from the attached older progress checkpoint and tracker; do not restart intake or discard any existing data. Preserve all candidate facts, corrections, preferences, resume exclusions, companies, drafts, events, statuses, follow-up dates and batch history. Keep real and simulated activity separate. Use only these attached records, not memory or other chats. Keep the saved as-of dates and timezone unchanged. Export an updated full progress JSON and tracker, and briefly tell me what carried over and flag anything missing or incompatible. Do not research, contact anyone, submit anything or record a new action.

5. Check, then continue

Compare your company list, application/email/reply counts, follow-ups, search limits and resume exclusions with your old files. Check both real and simulated records if you have them. Download the new checkpoint and tracker. Once they match, continue in the new chat using the updated records.

Tell Job Eagle today’s date and timezone when you are ready to advance the search date. Older employer research stays historical until rechecked.

If you do not have a progress JSON

Go back to the old chat and request the full handover above. If it cannot produce JSON, ask for the complete record as text and a tracker CSV, then attach or paste those into the new chat with your documents. Ask the new version to identify gaps before creating its checkpoint.

This text fallback has not been tested as a lossless upgrade. Missing history cannot be recovered from the workflow ZIP.

If you use an installed skill, private plugin or Project

This guide switches the workflow used in the new chat. Uploading a ZIP does not automatically update an installed skill, private plugin or Project instructions. Use the ChatGPT setup guide or Claude setup guide for that separate installation, and keep your search backups.

Bring the documents you want to keep using. The new workflow ZIP does not contain your old chats or recreate a resume file that was not uploaded. Only supplied records and documents can carry over.
